![]() ![]() Whether he’s craving for cocoa puffs or is letting his homey’s know he’s “cool” we’re not sure, we do know that he should have been slapped for coming up with that nonsense, though. Lets begin with the stage name, it has the words(?) “Coo Coo” in them. Rap music was just entering it’s “gang-banging” phase when these three groups got in the game, there wasn’t a niche formed for them to thrive in. All three groups were well outside of the mainstream, and if any of the three would’ve debuted around the time Kanye dropped Late Registration they would’ve been huge successes as opposed to O-HQ’s. ![]() They were rendered O-HQ’s because each group created a hit song in a different genre, or a genre they created. I put these three together because they are all O-HQ’s, but they’re a rare species of O-HQ’s. Hit singles (in order): Cool Like Dat, Cantaloop, and Luchini However, when you say things like “I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat” you’re hit making days are numbered.ģ. Skee-Lo made a summer anthem with I Wish. Lloyd Banks gave Fifty (or Fitty) Cent good advice, “Banks told me ‘go ‘head and switch the style up and if they hate then let them hate, and just watch the money pile up” but when it came time for Lloyd’s second solo album the only advice “Fitty” had for him was, “B*tch get in my car!”. Sort of like a 6th grader on ESPN’s top 50 basketball players list that doesn’t even make his/her high school junior varsity team. Any hot rhyme that ever floated through his brain came out on that first album, Lloyd is what I like to call a “peak-to-sooner”. His second solo album was so disappointing I feel like his first album, Hunger For More, was his one hit. I know what you’re thinking, “How is Lloyd Banks a O-HQ?”. Hit Single: (look below for further explanation) His Never Scared remix was hotter than the original, a lot hotter.ĥ. We knew they weren’t gonna be sh*t because Lil Wayne singing the hook was the best part of Duffle Bag Boy. His hit was Cash Flow, a “ We Da Best” production. You ain’t know that though did you? That’s why he’s an O-HQ, you should know he’s on his 3rd album after how big Shoulder Lean was.ĭude could spit a lil’ twang…That’s about all I know about him. He actually dropped another album this year, his 3rd. ![]() ![]() You know him because he did that We Ready song, not because you recognize his name. This ‘Bama doesn’t even have a Wikipedia page. So get your juice box, your bib, your crayons and a kiddie menu with a maze on it, the Top 5 O-HQ’s in NSS history (it’s illustrious 3 week history). They are “one-hitters” because in their entire career (1 year in the game or 15 years in the game) they made ONE hit.īut don’t fret my pets! NSS has compiled a list of O-HQ’s who you may have mistaken them to be dead. A true O-HQ had exactly ONE album single that was played on a heavy rotation and ONE video single being played in heavy rotation, period. O-HQ’s pretty much grow on trees, but I am going to clear up for you what a real O-HQ’s characteristics are. My list is composed of names of what I consider to be a true O-HQ (I’m already tired of typing one-hitter quitter). The list for “one hit wonders”, as they are commonly called, is infinite. No, not the kind of one-hitter quitter you pass to the left-hand side, I’m talking bout lame a** rappers that were lied to by some greasy A&R who told them they’d be the next Tupac. ![]()
